Fic? ± Taxon's haunted holo event shenanigans prologue

Glitch awoke a little before dawn, anxious to get back to work finding a solution to the ongoing disappearances. He was being more proactive against this particular instance of alien technical difficulties because of Bagoas, and how the moment he'd turned his back his promises to the young man that he would be safe had proved false.

It was at the landing that he heard the voice(s?) echoing from above, familiar but not, impossible but all too probable thanks to recent events. Instead of descending to the great hall he went up, the voices (yes, two) becoming more distinct as he followed a rarely visited hall leading to a door that had long ago been his. He'd only ventured here once in his time in Taxon to pick over the ransacked debris of his old life, furniture smashed to kindling, walls and floors torn into to find any scrap, any clue about the sun seeder or the emerald...

When Glitch pushed the door open it led to the garden terrace at Finaqua, the suns' first rays touched the lake, and rosy mist shrouded the mountains. He almost fell to his knees and wept, but there was the sound of silver on porcelain and a delighted giggle.

"There you are, Ambrose!" the younger princess called brightly.

Her sister's voice, by contrast, was desolate. "We've been waiting for you."
