OOC ± The Headcase: A User Guide

Here have some tl;dr meta/headcanon notes on glitching, turn-ons, turn-offs, ninjahood, and maybe a bit about Ambrose. Who is Glitch. Who is not Ambrose.

Recognizing a glitch
There are three sorts of glitches. The first is verbal, wherein he repeats himself. He repeats himself. He repeats himself. Etc. A tap on the shoulder/thwack to the chest/sharp "Hey" will snap him out of it. This sort of glitch is easily recovered from and he'll carry on well enough, probably with some apology for the inconvenience.

The second sort is also verbal-ish. Mid conversation he will trail off and go back to a previous point in the discussion, repeating something he had said earlier. This is due to trying to access a memory that is no longer there, something that is missing from the context. A quick prompt can put him back on track and conversation will resume Glitch-normal from there.

Then there's the reset. This can be mild, like a total topic change, or he can lose everything. Who are you? Who is HE? Where is this place and what's going on? Answer him honestly and everything will come back to him in a few moments. Answer him dishonestly and everything will come back to him, skewed to whatever you told him. This is Glitch at his most vulnerable, where he'd latch onto any suggestion to gain a grounding in reality.

Things which trigger glitches - stress, extreme emotion, memories which are not there, and memories which ARE there which he was not expecting. Distressing memories are more likely to cause resets.

Turn-Ons (or: things which make him happy)
HBICs - Glitch is from a matriarchal society and his BFF was the freakin' queen, whom he literally stood by until the Witch took them prisoner. Ladies of royalty will bring out all of his duty-bound devotion, but really he'll be a willing lapdog for any non-evil woman of authority. Evil women of authority who can fake being non-evil will probably gain a flunky as well. Until he finds out about the duplicity and gets all pissed off.

Food - He's been living off the land for close to a decade, give him a square meal and he'll be a happy man. Apples are a plus. Soup is also good.

Shelter - See above. A warm bed is a nice start but if you can give him finely-appointed rooms all the better. He's from the nobility and his natural habitat is a palace, but he'll make due anywhere that has a roof and softness.

Dancing - Or being acknowledged for his rhythm. Erm.

Turn-Offs (or: things that make him D: )
Guys In Black Leather Coats - The Witch's goons wore these. No good comes from that.

Doctors/Medical types - Bitches done took his brain. Screw them.

People screwing with the zipper without express permission - Because yeah.

Ninjahood
...it really needs to be seen to be believed.

Okay he's not a ninja, but if provoked (and if he REMEMBERS) he can kick your ass and probably your three buddies' asses too. Unless you have superpowers, in which case he'll put up a decent fight and then get pwned.

That Ambrose Guy
How Glitch lost his brain, the macro-quick version.

In canon next to nothing is known about Ambrose. He's on screen for two minutes in a flashback, during which he is Captain Exposition and the queen grabs his forearm comfortingly and calls him "old friend." We also get a brief glimpse of him towards the end of the series, in which due to circumstances he is a cranky, nerdy bitch.

Things we do know - Ambrose was crazyintelligent, loyal unto death (or lobotomy), invented the hell out of like everything, and knew DG and Az when they were tiny. All else is fanon, but we can assume there were Glitch-like tendencies there as well.

Questions? Oh yes I am taking them.
